The Department of Planning and Urban Planning, on the recommendation of the municipality of Limassol, announced the tourist kiosk of Fivos Polydoridis in the municipal park of the city. An important monument of Cyprus modernism for a long time was abandoned and began to slowly collapse.
The tourist kiosk was designed by the outstanding Cyprus architect Fivos polydoridis, the author of the Aktea residential building in Germany and the warehouse of the fruit of the birth tree near the Limasol shipyard and hundreds of more buildings in the style of modernism erected in Limassol in the 50th-80s of the last century.

The project of the park complex was introduced to the public in 1960, and already in 1962 an object of the city appeared in the municipal park of the city. The building combines straight and curved lines and is harmoniously inscribed in the surrounding landscape. A characteristic feature of a kiosk is a semicircular horizontal plate placed on thin metal supports, which refers to the projects of Ludwig Mis van der Roe. The architect was supposed to place a restaurant with an area of 250 sq.m. Among the pines and eucalyptus, while retaining the view of the sea and without damaging the trees. The base and some walls were lined with natural stone. The frames were steel, since at that time Aluminum was not yet in use.

Kiosk served as a venue for events, including the wine festival. The rest of the time a restaurant worked here. Local residents called the tourist kiosk “Psaras’s restaurant”, as the institution was ruled by entrepreneur Nikos Psaras for more than 30 years. Since the 1990s, Kiosk has come into desolation and slowly destroyed. Part of the municipal park where it is located is closed to visitors due to an emergency state and a judicial dispute between the tenant and the municipality. The architectural community has repeatedly called on the local authorities to save the monument and include it in the list of architectural heritage.
Now that the kiosk is taken under protection, the authorities can begin to repair and reconstruction, as well as to improve the territory around. The purpose of the municipality is to emphasize the value of the construction in the most profitable way.
The municipality is also prepared to include five more buildings in the list of architectural monuments: - the building of the ST. Mary’s (on the map), - part of the building of the technical school (on the map), - part of the building of the archaeological museum of the Limassol region (on the map), the administrative building of the former melting plant Nemitsas Ltd (on the map), the entire territory of the villa of the papadopulos (on the map).
