"Miraculous Therapies" promoted in Tiktok to misleading contents on online blogs are often the main sources of information that significantly shape our daily choices for nutrition, sleep, fitness, and even very serious health issues. Young people, as more familiar with the internet, are usually at the center of this storm. So how can we distinguish the truth from the lie?
This is precisely the aim of the European Educational Initiative Health-Lit, which with the support of Erasmus+, gives young people the tools to recognize misinformation and make the right decisions on their health. Through actions and educational processes they can have a more valid guidance for a wide range of health issues - from what they eat and how they care for their body to the most important medical choices.
On October 17, 2025, from 12:00 to 14:00 (EET), Health-Lit will be carried out by the Virtual Open Youth Health Literacy Sandbox (VOYS). The workshop will take place in Greek, is free, interactive and designed as a creative space where young people, youth workers and experts can explore ways to deal with misinformation on health issues. Health-Lit has also invited the HIV (AIDS Solidarity Movement) movement as a speaker to share real experiences and examples from the field.
Of the participants, three new activists from Cyprus will have the opportunity to participate in the international Voys event in Sofia, Bulgaria (November 25–27), at all costs covered.

Why does health literacy matter?
A recent study conducted in Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Italy and Lithuania has shown that many young people find it difficult to distinguish reliable sources from influencers, while misinformation directly affects lifestyle choices - from diet to mental health.
These findings highlight a new reality: the digital world shapes the health of young people more than doctors, schools or even their families themselves.
"Hundreds of thousands of content on social media are going up every day. Although some of them are useful, misinformation, especially in health and well -being, can prove dangerous, ”says Kyriaki Daskaloudi of Future Needs.
What to expect in Voys
To meet these challenges, the Voys will be divided into two parts:
Understanding the problem, through the presentation of research and data to highlight the "invisible" risks of misinformation. Future Formation: A Creative co-designer workshop in which participants will intend proposals and solutions to combat misinformation and healthier and up-to-date communities.
The event will gather 15–20 participants: Health Professionals, Youth, Activists, NGOs, Teachers and Specialists in Health.
