Fishing in Cyprus is rooted in the depths of millennia. Already in the Neolithic - more than 9,000 years ago - people used the gifts of the sea. At the excavations of ancient settlements, archaeologists find fish bones and primitive hooks of bone and copper.
In one of the photos, we see a sculpture installed in Ayia Nap, who was once a fishing village. Most of the inhabitants were engaged in fishing there. The sculpture is a family of fishermen in national Cypriot costumes. Mom and son hold baskets with caught octopuses, and father - a fishing network.
The sculpture "Little Fisherman" depicts a boy holding a large fish. It was installed in pathos as part of the project to create an open -air museum in the city.
This photo selection is a view of fishing, where ancient fishing remains an integral component of modern life, and part of the project of 30 articles dedicated to the anniversary of the “Herald of Cyprus”, which is 30 years old this year.
