What annoys tourists in Cyprus - and why is it important

Cyprus remains one of the most popular areas for tourists from all over Europe thanks to its climate, warm sea, rich history and hospitality. However, as in any tourist paradise, here you meet some features that can overshadow the overall impression.

To know about possible irritating moments is important for several reasons. This helps to form adequate expectations. The informed tourist does not experience shock or disappointment, but perceives the local "flavor" calmly.

The first is high prices in tourist areas. Restaurants and cafes often set prices that do not correspond to the quality of dishes or the level of service.

This is especially felt in tourist areas where the cost of water, coffee or snacks can be 1.5-2 times higher than the average price in other areas of the island.

Of course, at the first visit, this is not particularly noticeable. If you go all the time to rest in the same place and are ready to pay a little more just for the sake of the usual and favorite situation, there is nothing wrong with that.

The second point is the level of service. Cypriots are known for their goodwill, but not with quickness. Often you can encounter slow services, especially in the season, when there are many tourists, and there are not enough workers. There are times when waiters confuse orders, forget to bring an account or completely ignore visitors if they do not show persistence. They can be understood, but being in such a situation is still unpleasant. In fairness, it is worth noting that in many restaurants, even in peak hours, you will be served quickly and without delay, and even treat you with a dessert at the expense of the institution.

Problems with car rental are also a reason for complaints. Movement on the left side of the road creates stress for drivers who are accustomed to right -sided movement. In addition, local drivers are not always distinguished by a high culture of driving, and the habit of spontaneous parking is perplexed by guests from more law -abiding countries.

Tourists who do not plan to rent a car are often annoyed by a weak organization of public transport. The buses rarely go, the routes cover far from all interesting places, and in the evening almost nothing drives.

Another frequent annoying factor is garbage. In tourist areas, on the beaches, in cities, you can stumble on cigarette butts, plastic bottles and other traces of a careless attitude to the environment.

All these moments do not make Cyprus a bad place to relax - on the contrary, most tourists return here again and again, often buying flights with Aviasales. But it is important to know about possible irritating factors in order to prevent such trifles from spoiling your vacation.
