where services are provided or commercial activities are conducted. Licenses are needed to operate shops, bank branches, offices, workshops, cafes, beauty salons, dental offices and freelance agencies.

According to the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, companies and individuals carrying out operational activities must obtain a license from the municipal authorities to operate on the premises where services are provided or commercial activities are carried out. If there is no license, the municipality can suspend the work of the company or self-employed person and initiate legal proceedings.

This is exactly what the mayor's office warned about. The absence of more than 3,000 licenses was identified during the physical registration of commercial premises by representatives of local authorities. Such a license must be issued

annually

. As the Paphos municipality notes, more than 3,000 companies and self-employed people either deliberately violate this requirement or are unaware of its existence.

The license can be issued in Greek or English. On the website of the Paphos Municipality there is a section with electronic application forms - https://pafos.org.cy/entipa/. You need to select the Application for granting a Business Premises Operation Permit button, then the section - individual or company. Electronic copies of the ID or “foreigner’s passport” (Alien Book) and water bill (or tax receipt) must be attached to the application.
