In the twelve years of its operation, the Jazz and Musicians of the World Platform has become a real horizon of opportunities, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Dr. Vassiliki Kassianidou, said on Friday, in her greeting at the opening of the 12th Jazz and Musicians of the World Platform, at the Rialto Theatre, in Limassol.
"Platforma has been on an impressive and steadily upward trajectory for twelve years. "During its duration, hundreds of Cypriot musicians took to the stage, dared, experimented and left their own creative imprint on an institution that evolves alongside them," noted Ms. Kassianidou.
"It is a special meeting place, where jazz - the art of the unexpected, the moment and the lively dialogue - meets the music of the world, with the traditional sounds, memories, traditions and narratives of each place", he pointed out. "This coexistence is not just aesthetic. It is a dynamic cultural ecosystem that expresses the identity of Cyprus and modern Europe: polyphonic, open, restless and deeply creative", he added.
In these twelve years, continued the Deputy Minister of Culture, "the Platform has become a real horizon of opportunities. This is where collaborations were born, new compositions were created and channels were opened that united Cypriot creativity with the international music scene," he said. "It is an organization that is not limited only to the presentation, but encourages, empowers, and above all highlights the talent of the musicians of our country", he underlined.
Expressing her warm thanks to the Department of Contemporary Culture, the Rialto Theatre, all those who contribute over time to the success of the institution, as well as the artists, Vasiliki Kassianidou said that "as the Deputy Ministry of Culture, we remain steadfastly committed to supporting every effort that paves the way for creation, cultivates new voices, highlights the talent of our musicians and helps them overcome narrow geographical boundaries of our island and to be distinguished internationally".
