The newspaper has grown a little more-now it has 24 pages. The miles changed - finally the font was increased, there were more photographs, the number of headings grew. One person still copes with editorial work, but now the author’s articles of permanent correspondents are regularly released. "Bulletin of Cyprus" from now on - the fruit of collective labor.
In 1999, a two -hundred issue of the newspaper was released and in the old photo you see both the publisher and the creative team of the editorial office.
The newspaper has a lot of useful information - when I arrived at Cyprus in September 1999, I bought all the newspapers in Russian (there were four of them that year), but it was precisely the “Bulletin of Cyprus” that was especially appreciated. Cyprus news did not at first interest me, but the ads - very much. For everyone who, like our family, has settled down in a new place, the newspaper was an indispensable source of information. There were many ads on different topics.
Interestingly, at that time there was also the newspaper Vesti with Cyprus. I think her publishers specifically gave her a name, consonant with the already existing "messenger". They appeared later, but were able to take advantage of the situation. It is difficult for people who do not own Russians by ear [Vestnikpra] and [Vestiskrapra]. So, it was easier for newcomers to sell advertising, since the "messenger of Cyprus" in Limassol at that time was already heard. Although the newspaper was sold in kiosks throughout Cyprus, it was Limassol who was the center for Russian -speaking residents. Therefore, advertisers of all newspapers in Russian were from Limassol.
This year can be called the heyday of the video. I was a witness, since my husband and I immediately after arrival signed up for both the library and the video club. The graphic designer of the "Herald of Cyprus" was an outstanding person who was walking with an encyclopedia in the fact that the films were related. It seemed that he revised everything, could retell the content, advise. And he collected a collection of several thousand video tapes. I remember that he constantly had a video recorder for recording, there was constantly something interesting, which was not yet in the collection.
