We continue the story about the history of the newspaper, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the publication. In 1998, the “Bulletin of Cyprus” turned three years old, but it was already the famous center of the Limassol “Russian life”. Here, someone was constantly sitting at the table of the secretary-people came to give an advertisement, exchange books or video cassettes. But no one left at once: they remained to talk, discuss the news, talk about Cyprus and Russia, tell about themselves. They also brought letters of readers - such a section appeared in the newspaper.
The editor of the "Herald of Cyprus" wrote books, I was happy to read her detectives and recipes. And since she was a versatile woman, the newspaper also expanded the spectrum of its interests. Here are just a few examples of original headlines from the 1998 archival issues (the editor and with fantasy and with a sense of humor were fine).
“Seven candidates and one offended” - she wrote about the 1997 presidential elections.
"How to buy a ticket to a car?" - Article about the new automatic parking service.
“Cyprus problems are by no means sexual” - this strange headline was relevant, this is a quote - the words of the speaker of the government of Manolis Christophydis. Such a strange, at first glance, the statement was related to fears whether US President Bill Clinton, who was in the center of the scandal about the connection with Monika Levinsky, will still be able to play an active role in solving the Cyprus problem.
There were permanent headings in the newspaper. For example, “Tasty Essays Tatyana Tsaplya” (editor -based editor), where she wrote about Cyprus products. The first was called "Cypriot products - what are they eaten with?"
