Trinidad and Tobago has put its armed forces on high alert, calling on all military personnel to immediately return to their posts, amid the crisis between the US and Venezuela.
The mobilization comes at a time when the US is launching airstrikes against alleged drug-trafficking vessels in the Caribbean and Pacific, while US reports say Washington is considering ground operations in Venezuela.
Washington accuses the Venezuelan president of being directly involved in drug trafficking, which Nicolas Maduro categorically denies.
According to Caracas, Washington is using drug trafficking as a pretext "to force regime change" and seize the country's vast oil reserves.
