Turkey: Police injured in clashes with jihadists

In Turkey, 7 police officers were injured in a battle with alleged Islamic State jihadists.

According to Turkish media, the incident took place in the province of Yalova, in the northwestern part of the country.

Police units conducted an operation at a house where there was information that jihadists were staying.

The suspects opened fire on the police when they broke into the house.

The injured are being treated out of danger.

Last week, Turkish police detained 115 suspected members of the Islamic State group, who - according to the authorities - were plotting terrorist attacks over the Christmas and New Year period.
