"We will continue to claim, demand and keep the return flame alive," said Morphou Mayor Victor Hadjiavraam in his speech at the Municipality of Morphos.
At the same time, he asked the state to insist on the initial design of the Nicosia -Troodos motorway, and noted that possible abandonment of the original planning was equivalent to indirect acceptance of the committed by the invasion.
"This," added Mr. Hatziavraam, "the Morfites, but also all the inhabitants of the area, we cannot accept it."
President Christodoulides said he would have a meeting with the mayors of the area next week.
