Ecuador: Clashes in a prison with 31 dead

At least 31 dead were the toll of clashes in an Ecuadorian prison.

As announced by the country's prison service, the incidents took place in a detention center in Matsala.

Residents of Matsala told local media that they heard gunfire, explosions and cries for help inside the detention center.

Police special forces units intervened and arrested 7 people.

As announced, 27 of the dead died of suffocation.
