Russia's insistence on Ukraine: Withdraw from Donbass

Russia insists that Ukraine should withdraw its troops from the part of the Donbass it still controls, the Kremlin announced, pending a new phone call between Putin and Trump.

Yesterday, the American president spoke with his Russian counterpart, before the meeting he had with the president of Ukraine.

For his part, Volodymyr Zelensky said that control of the Donbass and the Russian-held Zaporizhia nuclear power plant continues to be an outstanding issue after his meeting with Donald Trump.

He added that talks on a free economic zone in Donbass are continuing, declaring that the agreement must include the Ukrainian people.

Zelensky also noted that any plan to end the war between Ukraine and Russia should be signed by Kiev, Moscow, Washington and the Europeans.
