A Journey of Resilience, Awareness & Unityby EU Climate Pact Ambassador Barasa Daniel

On 15–16 November 2025, Cyprus will witness an extraordinary and unique act of endurance, purpose, and compassion. Barasa Daniel, founder and leader of the Running-Fluent Initiative, EU Climate Pact Ambassador, and alumnus of both Cyprus University of Technology and the University of Limassol, will embark on the RUN180 challenge, a 15-hour, 180-kilometer solo run from Limassol to Nicosia and finishing in Larnaca at Finikoudes during the Radisson Blu International Marathon.

This monumental challenge is beyond a run. It is a movement for visibility, inclusion, and solidarity with the 60,000 individuals in Cyprus living with rare health conditions.

Through RUN180, Daniel celebrates his 8-year journey in Cyprus (growth, transformation, and community contribution) and aims to raise €28,000 for the Cyprus Alliance for Rare Disorders (CARD), supporting their mission to advocate for better health policies, faster diagnoses, and stronger support systems for families affected by rare diseases.

RUN180 Launch Ceremony

Change makers, doers, students, academics, colleagues, and supporters are invited to join the official send-off at the University of Limassol, the symbolic starting point of this journey of hope and endurance. Participants are encouraged to:

Run or ride the first few kilometers. Show support at the start line. Be part of a story of impact and inclusion. Official Launch Event

Daniel's route from Limassol to Nicosia to Larnaca symbolizes a bridge across communities and regions. He will be accompanied by a small support crew including cyclists, volunteers, and medical personnel, inviting community members to join sections of the run, cheer from the roadside, or support online.

The challenge will conclude at the Radisson Blu International Marathon in Larnaca, symbolizing transparency, visibility, and a collective finish that celebrates human strength and compassion.

Behind every statistic lies a story of strength and courage:

Parents fighting for their children's right to proper care. Young people striving to live normal lives despite uncertainty. Families showing resilience against all odds.

"Having lived in Cyprus for eight years, I know how it feels when struggles go unseen," said Barasa Daniel. "RUN180 is not just a test of physical endurance; it's a call to empathy and unity. Every kilometer represents a voice that must be heard, and every donation turns awareness into hope."
