Issues that fall within the competences of the European Union were discussed at the meeting of the leader of the Turkish Cypriots with the European Special Envoy for Cyprus, Johannes Hahn, in the occupied territories.
Tufan Erhiurman leaves a clear hint on how Mr. Hahn was appointed, stating in his post that he was appointed by the European Commission through internal procedures.
Among the issues raised, the Turkish Cypriot leader lists the Schengen Treaty, the right to European citizenship for descendants of mixed marriages, direct contact with the institutions of the European Union, the regulation on direct trade, the electrical interconnection, the registration of hallumin and photovoltaics in the buffer zone.
Regarding yesterday's joint visit with President Christodoulidis to the anthropological laboratory, Tufan Erhiurman notes that it is their duty to support the work of the Investigative Committee on the Missing and to prevent the politicization of these works.
