The EU Health Commission will help deliver the first doses of FMD vaccines from tomorrow, says Commissioner Oliver Varchelli.
In a post on "X", Varkheli writes that Brussels will also support Cyprus with all available tools, including financing and compensation options.
Earlier, Oliver Varkheli met in Brussels with the Minister of Agriculture, Maria Panagiotou, emphasizing as a priority the rapid containment of foot-and-mouth disease and the support of farmers.
In addition, a European official told KYPE that a team of experts on foot-and-mouth disease will be in Cyprus tomorrow.
Besides, the Ministry of Agriculture, in a statement, states that Maria Panagiotou also met with the European Commissioner for Agriculture.
He submitted a request for financial support to both Commissioners, as well as the immediate availability of vaccines from the reserve maintained by the European Union.
The minister expresses her satisfaction for the Commission's response immediately.
