The Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos called on the European MEPs to take into account the Cypriot livestock farmers who lost their lives due to foot-and-mouth disease.
Speaking before the competent committee of the regions in Brussels, he said that

they must remain a key element of the Cohesion Policy.
And this, he added, to support the people who lost the properties and incomes that supported their families. He mentioned a serious problem with the processing in Cyprus, as there will be no raw material for the producers

, a very important export product of Cyprus.
He also spoke of very serious effects on the milk industries, stressing that the Cohesion Policy should have a human-centered character.
