The European Commission became the target of a cyber attack on March 24. According to a Commission announcement, the cyber attack affected the cloud infrastructure that hosts the Europa online platform. Initial findings suggest that data was taken from the sites however the incident was quickly brought under control. Internal systems, according to the statement, were not affected, but the impact of the attack has not yet been investigated. So far, the perpetrators of the cyberattack have not been identified.
