Proposals for lower electricity taxation are included in the package of measures to be presented by the European Commission to deal with increased energy prices. After today's video conference of the Eurogroup, the European Commissioner for economic affairs, Valdis Dombrovskis, stated that proposals were also submitted for tax interventions in fuels, based on the model of measures that had been used during the energy crisis of 2022. At the same time, Mr. Dombrovskis stated that the member states retain the possibility of taking different measures, underlining, however, that the fiscal room for maneuver is reduced compared to the past.
