At 0:45 on Monday, September 2, an accident occurred on the Limassol-Nicosia highway near Moni. The garbage truck collided with a highway guardrail and then overturned. The driver, who was seriously injured, was hospitalized. As a result of the accident, debris was scattered across two lanes of the highway leading from Limassol.
Traffic police have redirected traffic to the old Limassol-Nicosia road. Cars leave the highway at the exit near Pareklisi, after which they drive along the old road. Police and technical services are doing everything possible to remove the truck and debris from the highway and open it to traffic.

The traffic police opened traffic in the right lane on the Limassol-Nicosia highway in the direction of the capital. The left lane of the highway remains closed.
According to police, the 42-year-old driver suffered a traumatic brain injury and several fractures and is fighting for his life. He is intubated.
