At about 13:00 on Saturday, August 10, Cypriot residents traveling on vacation along the Prodromi-Drusha road near Polis saw a fire on the side of the road. They stopped their car and extinguished the flames with a small amount of water that was in the car before firefighters arrived.
According to the forest department, the fire could have started “due to the carelessness of fellow citizens.”
- This is an example to follow. If every citizen is not indifferent at the right time, then neither our forests nor private property will be in danger. Moreover, we will not mourn human lives,” the forest department said on Facebook., expressing gratitude to the people who put out the fire before it could flare up.
