– On Wednesday morning, another power outage occurred in Cyprus due to a technical malfunction in the EAC production system: one of the generators failed, and some areas were temporarily disconnected from the network. The President of the Association of Licensed Electrical Installers, Yorgos Kyriacou, explained that such failures occur regularly, and in the event of critical situations, facilities of particular importance are provided with energy first - hospitals, police stations, the presidential palace. Areas not falling into this category are temporarily left without power supply.
– The Limassol Water Supply Authority has announced a planned water outage on October 29 from 5:00 to 20:00. The reason will be the relocation and modernization of the main water supply, which requires a complete shutdown of water supply. Areas south of the highway - from Makarios III Street to the western part of the industrial zone, as well as north of Makarios III Avenue - from the Ariel traffic light to Paphos Street and further to Epimytheos Street will temporarily remain without water supply.
– The authorities have decided to introduce strict measures against students who show aggression, vandalism or smoking on buses. Transport Minister Alexis Vafiadis said parents would be required to pay compensation for damage caused by their children and there would be monitors on “problem” routes. Education Minister Athena Mikhailidou stressed that a zero-tolerance policy would be applied to such incidents.
– The doctor received a fine of 25,000 euros for violating the terms of cooperation within the GeSI. The violations involved improper billing and failure to follow patient care guidelines. The authorities emphasized that control over the activities of suppliers will be strengthened to prevent similar cases in the future.
– From October 17 to 19, a three-day rock climbing festival will be held on the Akamas Peninsula, including climbing, master classes, competitions, music programs and other outdoor activities. Last year the event attracted about 250 participants, and in 2025 up to 750 people are expected, including athletes from abroad.
– On October 24, the Center by Night event will take place in Larnaca: shops on the main shopping streets will be open until 23:00. The initiative aims to restore activity in the historical center, which was damaged due to prolonged road works.
