Water supply will be cut off today in the village of Afienou. Equipment worth 25,000 euros was stolen from a school in Limassol. Cyprus Post has suffered a cyber attack: possible leak of government data. Children will have limited access to social networks. – On October 14, from 7:00 to 14:00, water supply will be temporarily interrupted in the municipality of Afienou due to planned work to modernize the water supply network. Residents are advised to use water from home tanks. The shutdown will not affect enterprises in the industrial zone.
– From the Apostle Andreas Primary School in Limassol, unknown persons stole 52 laptops and tablets with a total value of about 25 thousand euros. On Monday morning, teachers discovered the theft: the attackers entered four classrooms. Police have collected evidence and are investigating the incident.
– Hackers hacked the Thalis postal service, claiming to have gained access to confidential documents, including correspondence from the Presidential Palace, ministries, police and other departments. The Post Office temporarily suspended the system for security reasons, and the competent authorities began an investigation into a possible leak of government and diplomatic data.
– Cyprus has joined an EU pilot program aimed at limiting minors’ access to social media. Users' age will be checked not by a manually entered date of birth, but through a digital application linked to government systems, such as CyLogin. The project is planned to be completed by the end of 2026, but the exact age threshold has not yet been established.
– Larnaca police detained a man and a woman on suspicion of involvement in crimes related to violations of the law on the protection of personal data and the activities of private security agencies. The case relates to incidents that occurred in August and September. The suspects will appear in court.
