Jean-Pierre Lacroix looks forward to further progress regarding the Cyprus talks

UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, is looking forward to further progress in the Cyprus talks.

In an interview he gave to KYPE and other European media, at the UN branch in Brussels, Lacroix estimated that despite the cuts in the organization, UNFICYP people will continue to be able to carry out their work.

Asked by KYPE how he assesses the development of the situation regarding the Cyprus issue, after the recent so-called elections in the Turkish Cypriot community, Mr. Lacroix appeared optimistic about the dynamics that have developed.

He expressed hope for progress noting that there is a very high level of commitment from the highest levels of the UN.
