The UN Security Council is expected to vote within the day on a draft resolution that embraces Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip, and in particular the deployment of an international armed force in the Palestinian enclave.
Washington is exerting intense pressure for the adoption of such a decision, declaring that otherwise there is a serious risk of a resumption of the war between Israel and Hamas.
According to the text of the draft decision, which came to the knowledge of Agence France-Presse, the Security Council is called upon to authorize the deployment of an "international stabilization force".
This force - with respect to international law - is mandated to use all necessary means to guarantee border security, the demilitarization of the enclave and the disarmament of non-state armed organizations. It is also called upon to protect the civilian population and train a Palestinian police force.
