The act of vandalism, committed at the church of St. Paraskeva in the Limasol diocese, caused a wave of indignation and deep disappointment.
Unknowns set fire to the tires at the walls of the temple and left shameful inscriptions, causing damage not only to the building, but also to the spiritual symbol of the community. The damage was eliminated by the priests themselves, who, in the video posted on social networks, independently remove traces of destruction. In contact with residents, they do not hide emotions:
“Our temples are not a place to pour our illness and indifference. These are holy places dedicated to God and serving our society. We know who is behind this, and we assure - this will not be left without consequences. ”
The clergymen emphasized that such actions are not only the desecration of the holy place, but also the direct insult of the whole community. They called on residents to show civil liability and contribute to the cessation of vandalism.
The incident occurred in the midst of the Easter period, against the backdrop of the increased cases of using firecracker and hooligan actions in the Limassol area.
