A resident of Cyprus who scalded her husband's genitals with boiling water remains in custody

On Monday, November 4, a woman arrested for scalding her husband's scrotum with boiling water appeared in court in Trikomo. Her husband is still in the hospital.

In court, police spokesman Bugrakan Kaplan said that the 34th detainee was accused of causing “serious injuries and serious damage to health using violence.” She purposefully decided to pour boiling water on her husband's scrotum after learning that he was cheating on her.

He explained that at around 8:30 a.m. on October 31, the woman purposefully boiled a kettle in their home in the village of Leonariso and then poured boiling water on the scrotum of her husband, who was resting while lying on his back.

He added that she did this "with the intention of causing irreparable harm to his genitals so that he would not cheat again." Her husband, 35, suffered second-degree burns. Bugracan added that the woman was “arrested at the scene of the crime.”

The kettle was seized as evidence, the woman confessed to her crime, and it is quite possible that she will be released on bail.

The police representative asked to keep the detainee in custody for another four days so that the criminal could not influence witnesses. The judge granted the policeman's request to keep the detainee in custody.
