On August 29, a 49-year-old resident of Limassol reported to the police of the Republic of Cyprus that he had become a victim of crypto scammers. BydataCyprusNewsAgency, the amount of damage amounted to 260 thousand US dollars.
According to the victim, in August he received an SMS message from a “cryptocurrency exchange” about “suspicious activity” in his account. He was recommended to transfer the cryptocurrency to another wallet. The man created a new account, giving the scammers full access to it.
Later, he received a call and was advised to transfer the money he kept in bank accounts into cryptocurrency. Ostensibly for his own safety. A resident of Limassol did just that. And soon I realized that I had become a victim of scammers. When trying to transfer cryptocurrency to another wallet, he saw that his balance was zero.
