Sweden’s embassy in Cyprus is set to host an event on ‘Sustainable Tourism for the Future’ today, according to an official statement.

The event will highlight innovative green solutions designed to protect the environment, save energy, and reduce costs in the tourism sector.

Moreover, the initiative, part of the embassy’s ongoing efforts to promote the green transition, aims to bring together key stakeholders, including representatives from the tourism industry, municipalities, and other beneficiaries of sustainable technologies.

The focus will be on how innovative solutions can tackle environmental challenges effectively.

A session will feature the efficiency manager of Quality Hotel Strawberry Arena, Stockholm’s largest hotel.

He will share insights into how the hotel has achieved near-zero emissions by systematically addressing water and electricity consumption, reducing plastic use, and cutting food waste—areas reportedly monitored and improved continuously.

From Cyprus, representatives of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the Department of Environment, the president of the Nicosia District Council, and the president of the Famagusta branch of the Cyprus Hoteliers Association (Pasyxe) will offer their perspectives and experiences in advancing sustainable tourism and the Green Transition.

Innovative Swedish companies, including Enjay, Glacial Bottles, Husqvarna/Pantelis Papadopoulos S.A., Orbital Systems, NIBE/Thermogaz LTD, and Yodiwo, will showcase solutions tailored to the tourism industry.

These include waste heat recovery systems, reusable water bottles, water and energy-saving shower technologies, sustainable gardening products, energy-efficient heat pumps, and AI-driven smart city applications.

The event, according to the statement, emphasises Sweden’s commitment to sustainability and its dedication to building impactful partnerships that drive meaningful progress in the tourism sector.
