Representatives of the Cypriot shipping industry participated in the annual General Assembly of the European Shipowners' Association and the session of its Board of Directors, which took place on December 10 in Brussels.
According to an announcement by the Cyprus Chamber of Shipping, the agenda covered strategies of various sectors of the Union, with the aim of strengthening the voice of the European shipping industry, as well as for its sustainable development, while preparations for the upcoming European Shipping Summit 2025 were also examined, a premier event organized annually by the Association.
In addition, it is added that the appointment of the new European Commission was noted, while the 2040 climate goals and the effects of the revision of the EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime were discussed, with an emphasis on the need for alignment with the goals of the International Maritime Organization, for the successful decarbonisation of the shipping sector.
