The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, said that other announcements are expected from the United States in the fields of defense and security, possibly before the end of the year.
He was commenting on the amendment, in the American Congress, which foresees, for the first time, the inclusion of the Republic of Cyprus in the list of countries that meet the criteria and can be selected for participation in military training programs for Eastern Europe.
President Christodoulidis added that Cyprus is strengthening its defense and security relations with European states and Britain and is doing everything possible to strengthen its deterrent power.
President Christodoulidis noted that the Republic of Cyprus supports the country's defense industry and that already sixteen Cypriot companies participate in European programs.
Speaking at the International Conference on Defense and Security, in Nicosia, he pointed out that in a recent agreement with the French government for the purchase of equipment, a clause regarding the participation of Cypriot companies was included.
