The European Union attaches particular importance to the continuation and progress of the talks to resolve the Cyprus issue, it is stated in the European Commission's annual report on Turkey's accession process, which was made public today.
In statements, High Representative Josep Borrell said that the European Union considers the resumption of talks to further strengthen the cooperation between the European Union and Turkey to be particularly important.
He expressed the hope that Turkey will actively support the negotiations for a fair, comprehensive and sustainable settlement in the Cyprus issue, within the framework of the United Nations.
He also said that Brussels is ready to play an active role in supporting all stages of the negotiation process.
