Financial support for small and remote public kindergartens for the purpose of transporting children for their participation in educational trips and visits and extracurricular activities was approved by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday.

As stated by the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athina Michaelidou, after the Cabinet meeting, it is expected that 77 kindergartens will benefit from this measure this year, clarifying that this concerns kindergartens in remote and mountainous areas.

The Minister stated that the financial support of small and remote public kindergartens was approved, in order to transport the children for their participation in educational trips and visits, as well as extracurricular activities.

"We consider that this subsidy of €120,000 supports the all-round development of children and gives opportunities to children who attend school from a very young age," said Mrs. Michailidou.

Responding to a reporter's question, he said that remote areas have an additional cost when they are asked to participate in events, organized tours, and targeted visits, "so we don't want to deprive these children of this activity."
