In the very center of the capital of Cyprus, the vandals defiled one of the oldest Catholic shrines of the island - the Church of the Holy Cross.
The incident occurred in the afternoon, on Tuesday, June 10. According to the parish, unknown people caused the church building, located next to the Paphos gates in the center of Nicosia.
Photos from the scene were captured by the consequences of the act of vandalism - scattered objects, interior damage and desecration of sacred objects.
Currently, police officers are working on the spot. An investigation has begun, which should establish the guilty and causes of the attack.
The Catholic community of Cyprus expresses indignation and calls for the respect of religious shrines, regardless of religion.
