A 19-year-old man attacked a police officer, escaped arrest, and then unexpectedly returned to the scene.
On the afternoon of October 9, during a routine road check, police signaled the driver to stop, but he refused to obey and tried to escape, committing several traffic violations.
Some time later the car was intercepted. During the arrest, the 19-year-old resisted and managed to escape from the hands of the police, after which he ran, dropping a bag of cannabis.
During the incident, one of the police officers was forced to fire warning shots into the air.
After some time, the offender himself returned to the scene, where police officers searched the car with his written consent. A small amount of cocaine and cannabis was found and seized in the car.
The drug test was positive. Police have issued an arrest warrant for the young man for assaulting a police officer, resisting lawful arrest and escaping from custody.
The investigation is being led by the Anti-Narcotics Unit (YKAN) in Paphos.
