On Monday night, February 3, unknown people defiled the monument to Eokos fighters in Paphos, applying slogans and symbols on it.
According to the municipality of Paphos, the act of vandalism occurred in the Dasudi Park, where a monument was erected in honor of participants in the struggle for the independence of Cyprus. Information about the incident was immediately transferred to the police.
Having condemned what happened, the Elam party said that such actions were an insult to the memory of the fighters who gave their lives for the freedom of Cyprus, and called what happened to another example of crime. The party called on the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Disie's party also made conviction, saying that "such actions expressing disrespect and defeat the memory of the fighters of national liberation, which is unacceptable in our society."
The police conduct an investigation to establish the identities of those involved in the incident.
