The incident, which occurred on Sunday afternoon, November 23, in the Carnagio area of Limassol, has caused serious surprise and concern among local residents.
According to eyewitnesses, the unknown man behaved extremely suspiciously, attracting the attention of people who were passing along the bicycle path at that moment. Witnesses noticed that he purposefully approached the parked car, released the hand brake and with confident, almost sudden movements began to push the car towards the water. Within a few seconds the car rolled off and went completely into the sea.
After the incident, the man, according to eyewitnesses, quickly left the scene, clearly nervous. People nearby were shocked by what happened and in the first minutes tried to understand whether this act was an act of vandalism, an attempt to hide evidence, or part of a more serious incident.
The police were called immediately and patrol officers arrived in the Carnagio area just a few minutes later. The area was cordoned off, and the first inspections and documentation of what happened began. Law enforcement officials believe the vehicle may have been stolen or may be connected to another pending criminal case.
Security forces already have a description of the suspect, which significantly speeds up the search. Police also plan to lift the car from the water to conduct a technical and forensic examination. In the near future, it is expected to view surveillance cameras from the surrounding areas, since the Limassol embankment is equipped with an extensive video surveillance network.
The incident caused widespread discussion among city residents, and speculation appeared on social networks - from an emotional act to an attempt to hide traces of the crime. Limassol police are calling on citizens who may have seen the man before or after the incident to provide any information that could help the investigation.
