The eighth Radisson Blu Larnaca International Marathon concluded on Sunday 16 November, providing further proof that this sporting event is rightfully considered one of the key sporting events in Cyprus.
In an official statement, the organizers noted that over the years, the marathon has turned into an important sports and social holiday that annually brings together thousands of people and provides tangible social support to various initiatives.
Since its inception, the event has grown significantly: today the program includes seven running distances and the same number of social projects aimed at charity and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The organizers emphasize that the Larnaca Marathon is not just a competition, but a large-scale celebration of human fortitude, perseverance and the desire to overcome oneself, where athletes from all over the world participate.
In the men's marathon at a distance of 42 kilometers, the winner was Cristian-Alexandru Neascu, who showed a result of 02:34:43. Dasos Connella finished next with a time of 02:34:59 and Alex Gibb, who completed the distance in 02:35:25. Among women, Margarita Geistdorfer finished first, running the marathon in 02:58:36. Second and third places were taken by Teodora Petkova and Antonia Georgieva, who showed 03:02:05 and 03:04:01, respectively.
In the half marathon, Charbel Sejaan was the best among men with a time of 01:07:59, followed by Damian Kabat and Christos Lamaris. Megan Jacoby won the women's race, finishing in 01:18:01, slightly ahead of Svetlana Korobkina and Tamara Meteleva.
At a distance of 10 kilometers among men, Giorgos Tofis was the first, showing a time of 00:31:50, and among women, Karin Shraim won with a result of 00:37:59. In the 5-kilometer race, the individual competition again brought victory to Tofis, while Anastasia Papadavasilaki was the fastest among women.
In the corporate 5-kilometer race, the Gate 400 team won the championship, the representatives of the Smart Physio Team came second, and the participants of the Chalkas sports center finished third.
The organizers again focused on the social mission of the marathon. The “You Run We Donate” program and cooperation with charitable foundations help not only popularize the sport, but also provide real help to people who need it. This year, the story of Georgija Kaltsi, a wheelchair athlete and personal development coach who, after a serious car accident ten years ago, managed to rebuild her life thanks to sports, attracted special attention from participants and spectators. Her presence became a symbol of strength of character and a reminder that the limits of what is possible are determined only by human will.
