In Larnaca, children are in danger due to poor school conditions

The secondary school in the Vergina area of Larnaca is in poor condition. Literally, the ceiling is falling off. The students' parents, who were very concerned about this fact, said that action must be taken urgently. In turn, the Ministry of Education responded that work was underway to repair the premises of the building.

Recently, AKEL MP Andreas Pasiourtidis posted images of a scary ceiling on social networks.

“I present to you Vergina High School in Larnaca as it is today. The school had 400 students. I won’t say that we are shouting about a situation that you have been observing for several years. I will not talk about the number of visits with both the parliamentary committee on education and AKEL. I will not talk about the letters we sent to the authorities regarding this unacceptable situation. I will give each of you the right to judge whether our children deserve this school in 2024,” the deputy said.

A notice posted on the wall of the school is very alarming: “BEWARE OF POSSIBLE PLASTER FALLING FROM THE WALLS. KEEP A MINIMUM TWO METERS DISTANCE.”

And all this despite the fact that since February last year there have been assurances that problems in the school building will be corrected, and the Ministry of Education has stated that this condition of the school is due to ongoing repair work.

Parents of students attending this school are ready to take action as their children's physical integrity is at risk.
