Two remanded for 25kg of cannabis found in luggage

Eight-day remand orders were issued on Tuesday by the Larnaca district court against an 18-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man for possession of over 25kg of cannabis.

The woman was arrested on Monday at Larnaca airport when 25kg and 612gr of cannabis were found in her luggage.

The police said the young woman arrived in Cyprus from Thailand via the UAE.

Customs officers scanned the woman’s luggage and on inspection found 43 airtight plastic bags containing the drugs.

A testimony was later obtained against the 29-year-old, who was allegedly to receive the drugs. He was also arrested on Monday.

Police are continuing investigations.
