In Limassol, an emergency occurred.
A 55-year-old woman who came to Cyprus as a tourist is in critical condition after she lost consciousness during bathing in the sea. The incident occurred during the day, at about 15:30, on one of the beaches of the city.
According to police, the woman was noticed about 80-100 meters from the shore. She was in the water unconscious. Rescuers immediately reacted: the operational group delivered the victim to the shore with the help of a water motorcycle.
After first aid on the beach, the woman was urgently taken by ambulance to the Limassol State Hospital. Now it is located in the intensive care unit, connected to the artificial ventilation apparatus of the lungs (intubated). Doctors evaluate her condition as extremely serious.
The reasons for the incident have not yet been established - an investigation is underway. Versions are preliminarily considered, including a possible heart attack or other sudden health complications that arose during swimming. The investigation of the incident is conducted by the Central Department of the Limassol Police.
