Student bus fares slashed ahead of new school year

Student bus fares have been slashed for the upcoming school year, the transport ministry announced on Tuesday, two days before classes begin.

The decision follows a directive from President Nikos Christodoulides’ office and is part of the government’s broader social policy.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, which will last until August 31, 2025, the monthly student fare will be set at €5, while the annual fare will cost €30.

Students wishing to purchase an annual ticket must obtain a personalised Motion card.

In line with the changes, the ministry has decided to discontinue the quarterly and semi-annual tickets for the new school year. However, single-ride tickets will remain available.
