Sudan: Paramilitaries seize the country's largest oil well - Retreat of the state armed forces

Sudanese soldiers have crossed into South Sudan after the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces seized the country's largest oil field.

The Heglig oil field is located at the southernmost tip of the Kordofan region. As the armed forces of South Sudan announced, the soldiers of the neighboring country, without specifying the exact number, surrendered their weapons. Earlier, the United States announced that it was imposing sanctions on an international network recruiting fighters on behalf of paramilitaries in Sudan.
