An incident with a dog’s attack on a two -year -old girl during a family walk near the fins of Finnish last Sunday received an unexpected development.
After checking the veterinary service, it was decided to save the life of the animal. Experts came to the conclusion that the animal does not have signs of pathological aggression, therefore, instead of euthanasia, strict control measures will be applied to it. Now the dog will be under constant supervision: it was obliged to walk exclusively in a muzzle, and also limited free movement.
Recall that the baby received multiple bites in her legs. At first she was taken to the Limasol hospital, and later transferred to the specialized department of Nicosia. The girl was imposed the seams, and, according to the latest data, nothing threatens her life, although doctors continue to observe her condition.
During the incident, a 24-year-old girl was looking after the dog, who is now facing the accusation of the content of the breed prohibited and careless handling of the animal. The investigation established that the official owner of the animal is another person - it will also be held accountable. The young woman was released, but the investigation continues.
The situation caused a wide public outcry. The organization of Amstaff Club also expressed its opinion, noting that without relevant documents it is impossible to unequivocally argue that the dog belongs to the amstuff breed. According to experts, it is incorrect to confuse American Staffordshire terriers with pitbuls, since such statements form a distorted representation of society and fakes fears around the breed.
Dog attacks on people regularly become the subject of acute discussions in Cyprus. Local authorities have already discussed the tightening of legislation on the content of potentially dangerous rocks several times, as well as measures to chip and certification. According to experts, such incidents in most cases do not occur due to the innate aggression of the animal, but of the conditional education and the lack of proper control by the owners.
