The authorities of Limasol decided to postpone the festive carnival events planned for the next Saturday. The reason was to hold on this day the funeral of five members of the family tragically killed during a fire in the Aios-Nicolaos area.
Recall that the fire occurred on Saturday, February 15, about 4 in the morning. According to emergency services, four fire engines arrived at the scene for several minutes, but the fire quickly covered the apartment on the second floor, cutting off the evacuation paths. As a result of the fire, the 35-year-old basham Adib Gamil Takla, his 33-year-old wife Maria Georgiu and their three children, were killed.
The municipality of Limasol expressed deep condolences to the relatives of the victims and took over all the expenses associated with the funeral. The city authorities also said that all evacuated residents of the building were provided with temporary housing.
