Azerbaijan Prime Minister met with Presidential Cyprus Ersin Tatar

On July 2, Azerbaijan Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with the president of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRK) Ersin Tatar.

During the negotiations, Assadov emphasized the importance of the participation of TRK as an observer state at the 17th summit of the organization of economic cooperation (SEC), which is planned to be held in the city of Hankendi.

The parties also noted the positive dynamics of bilateral relations and mutual visits at a high level between Azerbaijan and TRK. As part of the meeting, the prospects for cooperation in various sectors of the economy and expansion of interaction between the two parties were discussed.

On September 19-20, 2023, despite the presence of Russian troops as peacekeepers, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan conducted a military operation against the NKR forces in Nagorno -Karabakh as a result of which Hankendi became part of Azerbaijan. On October 15, 2023, the city was visited by the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and raised the state flag of the republic on the central square of the city. On July 3, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation for the railway and bus station Hangkendi.
