The Cyprus Human Resources Development Authority (HRDA) has approved the Multi-Business Training Programs, which will be implemented by Vocational Training Centers (VET) in the 1st Semester of 2026, in the context of which more than 100,000 citizens are expected to be trained.
According to a statement from the Human Resources Development Authority, the training programs aim to upgrade the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the local human resources, contributing to improving productivity, strengthening competitiveness and developing the resilience of businesses. The topics covered concern all sectors of the economy and all categories of professions.
"Among others, it includes topics such as business management, new technologies and innovations, knowledge and skills for the green and blue economy, renewable energy, energy conservation, occupational safety and health, business continuity, training of trainers, digital skills at all levels, including artificial intelligence and robotics as well as specialist skills in various occupations"
It is added that "the implementation of the training programs is carried out by Professional Training Centers certified by the Human Rights Council, in certified Professional Training Structures and with certified Lifelong Learning Trainers. Applications for participation are made through the Mercury system to the Vocational Training Centers, before the start of the training program or before the completion of 25% of the total duration of the program", it states.
The approved programs fall into three categories, the routine, the vital, and the continuing training programs for trade union officials.
Multi-Business Training Programs – Common
Through these programs, employers promote the continuous training of their employees to meet the needs of their businesses/organizations. Additionally, unemployed people registered with the Public Employment Service also participate in these programs, with the aim of integrating them into employment. 3,721 specifications were approved for the implementation of 3,413 training programs for the participation of 95,000 people with a total expenditure of €22.9 million.
Multi-Business Training Programs – Vital
The aim of these programs is to satisfy the training needs of businesses/organizations and their employees, mainly managerial and scientific staff, in specialized or innovative subjects, which are important priorities for the local economy. These programs use trainers with wide experience and include both an institutional and intra-company part. 251 programs were approved for the participation of 7,000 people with a total expenditure of €11 million.
Continuing Training Programs for Trade Union Executives
The aim is to provide incentives to Unions and Trade Union Organizations to participate with their executives in training programs organized by Trade Union Training Centers, in matters related to their trade union status. 56 specifications were approved for the implementation of 101 training programs for the participation of 2,800 people with a total expenditure of €0.2 million.
