Limassol police are investigating the mysterious death of a 30-year-old woman, whose body was discovered on the morning of Sunday, November 9, in an apartment in the Germasogeia area.
From the very beginning, the circumstances of the incident aroused suspicion, so investigators from the Limassol Crime Department (CID) and police officers were immediately mobilized.
According to law enforcement officials, the incident was reported at about 11:00 am by the ambulance service. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found a woman without signs of life. Since the situation seemed suspicious, criminologists, duty patrols, as well as the Limassol police leadership joined the work at the scene.
Police spokesman Lefteris Kyriacou confirmed that government forensic experts were involved in the investigation to determine the exact cause of death. He noted that it is too early to draw conclusions, since the inspection of the scene and collection of evidence continues. According to preliminary data, the deceased did not live in the apartment alone in recent days - there were other people with her, whose identities are now being established.
Police are interviewing several witnesses and acquaintances of the woman. However, no official arrests have yet been made. As the police representative emphasized, the investigation does not exclude any of the possible versions - from an accident to a deliberate crime.
Experts are considering conducting toxicology tests and checking video footage from nearby surveillance cameras. This data can shed light on the last hours of a woman's life and help determine who may have been with her before her death.
The investigation is at an early stage, but police officials promised to regularly update the public as reliable information becomes available. Limassol authorities urged residents with any information to contact the police to help establish the circumstances of the tragedy.
The incident caused widespread public outcry, as such incidents are rare in this quiet residential area. Experts note that in recent months the number of reports of suspicious deaths in Cyprus has increased slightly, which increases police attention to each such incident.
