The President of the Republic has released the laws entitled "Municipal and Secondary Education (Mandatory Education and Provision of Free Education) (Amending) Law of 2025" and "On Private Schools (Amending) Law of 2025".
According to a joint announcement by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth and the Ministry of Social Welfare, the release concerns the procedure for the application of the regulation, which is practically impossible, in the context of the daily operation of the school units.
It is noted that the Government is fully agreed with the philosophy and the aim of the specific amending laws, which relate to the obligation to inform parents or guardians immediately about the absence of preschool children from kindergartens or nursery stations.
It is added that the arrangement for parents' alert within one hour of the specified attendance time, regardless of whether the child attends a public or private unit is certainly necessary.
According to the announcement, the government reiterates its steady commitment to enhancing children's safety.
The two competent ministries are already in the process of formulating applicable solutions that will ensure the essence of regulation without burdening the functionality of educational and pediatric structures.
The measures will be implemented in view of the new school year 2025-2026 and the relevant Ministries will monitor their implementation on a regular basis to ensure their proper and effective implementation, in the interests of each child's interest and safety.
