On Saturday, November 2, a new cyclone hit Cyprus.
Around 4 o'clock in the afternoon, a huge thundercloud covered the island. In just a matter of minutes, it began to rain, accompanied by squally winds and peals of thunder and lightning.
As a result, the disaster brought a lot of problems to the inhabitants of the island. The main blow fell on Limassol and Paphos. In these cities, power lines were damaged by bad weather, roads were washed out, and trees were knocked down.
The Cyprus Meteorological Service has urgently introduced an orange level of danger for weather conditions. For many residents of Cyprus, the cyclone turned into a real disaster. The fire department received dozens of calls asking for help.
Paphos General Hospital suffered extensive damage, where the roof collapsed due to heavy rains. Rooms, furniture and equipment were damaged.
Eyewitnesses claim that a tornado walked through Limassol.
In addition, an emergency occurred in a shopping center in Paphos: parents and children fled in panic when the roof of the building collapsed, causing a huge water leak. According to weather forecasters, a significant change in temperature is not expected in the coming days. On Monday there may be isolated showers or thunderstorms mainly in mountainous and inland areas.
